Description
As the vinyl hi-fi market continues to grow from strength-to-strength, Unison Research have decided to bring their expert valve knowledge to one of the often over-looked aspects of vinyl playback; phono pre-amplification. Phono stages are essential for taking the low output from a turntable and amplifying it to Line level, so modern amplifiers can deliver an optimised sound signal to your speakers. Sharing its name and appearance with an older model from the Unison Research range, the new Simply Phono boasts enhanced circuitry and an improved layout to deliver first-class audio.
The Simply Phono is an all-tube phono pre-amplifier. It employs four ECC83 (12AX7) double triodes, arranged so the first two tubes act in parallel as a maximum gain stage, implementing a particular configuration called “ionic bias”, in order to improve performance. The RIAA equalization network is a completely passive solution, and premium components have been selected throughout to deliver truly high-end characteristics.
The Simply Phono can accomodate both Moving Magnet (MM) and mid-to-high output Moving Coil (MC) cartridges, and features switchable impedance settings for optimum load matching. Due to its high-end specifications, the Simply Phono is a great addition to systems built around Unison Research’s valve amplifiers as well as other non-Unison Research designs.
In the UK the Simply Phono is supplied with the upgraded external power supply for improved performance.
